The Racquets Fitness Centre in Thame is running a 1 day racketball open graded on the 22nd Oct to replace the South Racketball Closed which has now been moved to the 3rd March. Get your entries in asap!
The 4th St Ivo Open Racketball Championship was held on September 24th with both Junior and Open categories. There were many keenly contested matches involving energetic juniors and (Edgbaston) National hopefuls competing for the honours. Thank you to Byron Williams for all his organisation skills and to those who took part.

There are now only two events left this year in the UK-Racketball Series at Chichester on 29th Oct and Thame on 26th Nov. Dom Hamilton currently leads the way in the Mens grade and Claire Walker has a strong lead in the Womens, whilst Ian Furlonger just holds on to the top spot in the Over 40's. James Murphy has the lead in the over 50's but is being closely pursued by the likes of Manuel Costa and Nigel Millington. With the September results still to be released and two events to go all is still to play for!!
The Yorkshire Racketball Champs took place on the 17th and 18th September at the racketball stronghold that is Chapel Allerton Squash Club. There were some great matches in all grades. Most notably in the mens A grade final Andrew Widdison played some outstanding racketball to just beat current England no 1 and UK-Racketball Series winner Dominic Hamilton in the 5th. Even with the massive entry for Chapel Allerton at the last series event the Nottingham open increased in size yet again, with a staggering 86 entrants and 200 matches to be played in one day! All grades were very strong. The A grade was incredibly tough including 5 players all from the top 10 in England! Click here to view the action.

A strong field of 16 players had been assembled for the 1st round of qualifying for the inaugural MANTIS FantasySquash.net PSA event at Nottingham Squash Club. A decent crowd had high expectations of local players Mark Fuller, Neil Rossin and Adam Auckland progressing into the next and final round of qualifying.

Daventry was the biggest Fantasy Squash Tournament so far with over 60 competitors making their way to Daventry for the 2nd Smart Haus Kitchens Daventry Open. Click here for all the photos and results...
There were over 80 entrants and 169 matches at Leeds making it the biggest event of the Series to date. There were huge entries in both the womens and the B grade. There were also some top quality players battling it out in the A grade for the win. Click here for all the reports and photos.
With our biggest entry yet the UK-Racketball Series grows once again! It will hopefully be our best event yet with huge draws for both the B and Womens Grades. Dom Hamilton, last years Series winner, also returns to play at his home club. However it will not be easy for him with some top players in the A grade all undoubtedly looking for the win. It was always going to be an interesting day running a tournament across two venues for the first time but with the second largest number of entries it was set to be a fantastic day’s racketball. It was an eventful weekend at the Hallamshire Tennis and Squash Club in Sheffield which once again hosted the National Junior Racketball Championships. There were 8 categories in total which saw a clean sweep for the Falconer brothers and Townley sailing through all rounds in the girls U19 to reach the no. 1 spot. Racketball Series in Lincoln. The tournament will be played at both the Lindum Squash Club and the Eastgate Squash Club both of which are great venues. At University of Birmingham Sport in conjunction with England Squash and Racketball, we are conducting a study to calculate the energy expended during a game of racketball, in female racketball players. There is very little research done on this sport and its time people realise the health benefits of playing such a fun and exciting game. With the National Championships and a UK-Racketball Series event both having taken place since last months rankings there have been some fast climbers in this months rankings. Tim Vail shoots up to take the No2 spot after winning the nationals, with Dom Hamilton just managing to keep his No1 spot. Mark Fuller also jumped up to take the No 3 spot and may well be looking to take the No1 spot later this year. Ted Jeal takes the No 4 spot after his win in the Kent UK-Racketball Series.
The Kent Harrow UK-Racketball Open was a great event combining both racketball and the Semi Finals of the Kent PSA $10000 Event run by Alan Thatcher. With some of the PSA players entering the racketball event it was one of the strongest A grade events yet. In the end it was the racketball experience of Ted Jeal that came out on top taking the Kent racketball open title in a close match against Henrik Mustonen. Last Sunday saw Edgbaston Priory take the National Club Championship Title beating Devon and Exeter squash club 4-1 in a hard fought match. Surbiton managed a close 3-2 win over The Northern claiming the plate final. Click here to see the full results.

A capacity crowd at Lexden Rackets and Fitness Club was treated to a stunning display of squash and racketball from two of the world’s top players. World Champion Nick Matthew and National Champion Daryl Selby contested their personal squash/racketball challenge match, playing two games of squash and two of racketball, adding the points scored to decide the overall winner. The Manor was a great event with our biggest entry yet of over 70 players! The club was buzzing all day had a great atmosphere. Thanks to every one who entered and made it such a fun event. Last Saturday two of the biggest racketball clubs in the UK battled it out for a spot in the National Racketball Club Championship Finals. Both sides fielded incredibly strong teams with great depth all the way down. With the World Squash No. 1 Nick Matthew playing at one for the Hallamshire against one of the UK’s best up and coming squash professionals Joel Hinds it was always going to be a great match to watch. UK-Racketball Nottingham knew they would have their work cut out away at one of the countries biggest racketball strongholds, Edgbaston. It was a close match but Edgebaston prevailed to take the win.

Chapel Allerton again played host to the NE Regional Racketball Championships on 5/6th March 2011, which proved to be a fantastic success. Dom Hamilton and Jim Lord met once again in the final however this time Dom proved victorious taking the title from last years winner Jim Lord.

The First Event in The Harrow 2011 UK-Racketball Series is at the Manor Health and Racquets Club on 16th April. This is three weeks before the National Championships and will be a great warmup event for anyone looking to compete at the Nationals. Click here for more information and online entry.
The 2011 Dorset Racketball Closed saw an incredibly strong entry, highlighting the strength and popularity of racketball within the County. The tournament was kindly hosted by West Hants LTC club. The doubles entry in particular proved very popular, but the quality of entrants to the Mens Singles section drew many spectators to the tight matches played in the later stages. Colin has been stringing for over 20 years and has the highest stringing qualifications obtainable. The St Ivo Racketball Detox Competition in December gave attendees the chance to work off the Christmas season’s ex-cesses. The children in attendance had a chance to try Racketball for the first time whilst others were able to hone their skills.
It was an opportunity to learn the basic strokes and get a feel for the game, with the emphasis on fun.
On Sat 29th Jan both Chris Hall and Steve Townsend ran a half marathon on a squash court for charity. That's 21.1km, or 2164 court lengths! All proceeds will be split equally between The MS Society and a fund to help build a new court at Kenilworth SC. Its still not too late to donate so check out their justgiving page and give them all the help you can!
The North East Regional Racketball Championships for 2011 will be held at the outstanding venue of Chapel Allerton Lawn Tennis and Squash Club. The event will run grades A, B, C and D.

Nottingham just beat Boston 3-2 in the first round of the National Racketball Club Championships. There were some intense matches with the possibility of the match going either way and both sides willing their players to battle on. Click here to read the report or go to the events section.
The National Racketball Club Championships first round matches have now all been played except for Nottingham vs Boston, which takes place tonight! With two players from UK Racketball in the Nottingham side we are hoping for a Notts win.....but they face tough competition from Boston. Check back here tomorrow to see the results.

Racketball expands once again with new racketball leagues now having been set up in Sussex. The leagues have theisr own dedicated website and use a new League Management System that is working fantastically well. The system is fully compliant with recognised rule and marking requirements and has really helped to get things kick started.
Matthew Thornton ex-member of UK Racketball has moved on to pursue his dream of climbing Everest! He has set himself a grueling training regime and hopes to make an attempt in 2012. The National Doubles Championships is to be held in in Torquay this weekend. With some of the top players from the UK Racketball Series and the Nationals Singles Championships in the draw it is shaping up to be a great event.

Leckie now coaches in Leicestershire and assists Gordon Hill at Nottingham Squash Rackets Club. He has secured funding from his Local authority for beginner Racketball courses as well as securing funding for coaching in Schools introducing more young new players to the sport every day.
The draws for the penultimate Harrow UK Racketball Series event have now been released. Start times and event details will be put up on the draws pages on Tuesday.
After the tough competition in Torquay there have been a number of big changes. Gavin Perrett has jumped up a massive +12 places in the A and could have gone even further if he had taken just one more point in the semi final against Dominic Hamilton! Â
Baker and Fuller will be back in the mix for Wolverhampton and will be looking to challenge for the tops spot... should be interesting...
B grade rankings have now been introduced with Gary Culverwell heading the field.
It’s been a great tour so far, nearly 150 player’s over 300 matches but at the moment only 3 champions. Dominic Hamilton (A), Rob Watkins (o40’s), Mike Philips (o50’s) have dominated their respective grades will anyone at Wolverhampton or Hunts County be able to rise to the challenge.
The UK-Racketball series is the first ever racketball series and has been played in a great spirit with many club players, absolute beginners and top squash players taking part. Such a range of standards and the one day best of three format has lead to a unique atmosphere at the events, with a lot of fun being had by all.
Torquay proved to be another great event for the Harrow UK Racketball series with some of the most heated matches yet. A huge turnout saw some great racketball and some near upsets with no 1 seed Dominic Hamilton having to really fight to stay in it.

The 2nd Chi Open tournament took place onSaturday 14th August At Chichester R&FC and held A,B and C events.
All players were to play 3 matches throughout the day all to be the best of 5 games.
All grades saw some top quality racketball, especially the over 40's which was fiercely competitive. Once again Dominic Hamilton, Rob Watkins and Mike Philips continued their top form from the Nottingham racketball open.

Players Brave the Heat at Stourbridge. However the soaring heat and temperatures that were more at home in the Sahara failed to stop the event from proving a success.

Following the successful launch of this event in 2009, the second West of England Racketball Team Challenge is being held at the Devon & Exeter Squash & Racketball Club over the weekend of 3rd/4th July 2010.
The National Junior Championships will take place on the 12th and 13th of June at the prestigious venue of Hallamshire Tennis and Squash Club in Sheffield.
