We are looking for someone to come on board on a self employed basis and help out with our on the day tournament organisation and delivery at our Series and Major events.
The role will begin from the start of the next integration of the UK Racketball Series in January 2026 and will run on a yearly renewal basis.
The UK Racketball Series has grown very quickly over the last couple of years, with its one day Series event entries selling out months in advance, and its major events - the British Open, Closed and International Team Championships becoming increasingly well subscribed year by year.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and sociable individual who is passionate about delivering a great tournament experience to players, and who is able to problem solve well on the spot.
This would be a part time role, weekends only, with the events being planned out 12 months in advance to help calendar organisation.
The role will involve:
- the running of tournaments across the UK for a full day of competition. From being at the venue at 8am on the day to set up for 9am starts, through to conducting the presentations at the end of the event and wrap up.
- being able to manage the demands of running a UK Racketball event, be flexible and creative with the on the day scheduling and court management, communicate well with the players, and deal with any issues that arise across the day’s play.
- to be able to travel to the UK Racketball host venues to run events across the country. Independent transport is preferable due to the need to carry UK Racketball banners and equipment to events.
Requirements:
- applicants should have a basic understanding of Sporty HQ and the willingness to learn the administrative side of the tournament software to be able to keep on top with result entry and also be able to make on the spot alterations if required to draws and schedules.
- applicants must also be able to take photos and videos of the day’s play during the tournaments to be able to promote the events and the sport on UK Racketball’s social media. It would also be preferable that the applicant would be confident in using social media and managing feeds to promote the sport.
- applicants must have their own laptop and access to a printer to be able to run the Sporty HQ online system on, and also print out draws and schedules prior to events.
- it would be helpful if the applicant has participated in a UK Racketball event in the past so that they understand the ethos and community behind the events. Prior experience in running Squash or Racketball events and dealing with on the day scheduling is however necessary.
Remuneration:
- the role will be paid on a per event delivered self employed basis.
- the basic rate will be £200 per one day event, or £400 if a full weekend. (For example the British Nationals or British Open.)
- there will be accommodation expense cover of £100 per event (regardless of whether this is required or not).
- there will be petrol expense cover at £0.40p per mile from your home address to the event venue and return.
- there is a possibility you would also be able to compete in some of the tournaments you are running, this would be open for discussion on an event by event basis.
