Event Report
Introduction
The Chichester Racketball Open 2014 is the third annual running of this event, after three extremely successful years.
In 2011, this event was the biggest racketball tournament in the South of England with almost 60 competitors and saw many times finalist Tom Phipps take his maiden tour title in the A section.
In 2012, the entry numbers for this tournament rocketed and it had one of the largest and most competitive B grades of the Series – it was Dan Clarke who eventually came through to be the last man standing.
In 2013 the event again had a great turn out, with the number of competitors gradually increasing. It was a really close call in the B grade final as both players put up a fight. But Ted Jeal had the confidence having won the B grade final at the Manor event, and just had slightly more in the tank than Eliott Selby and won the match.
The club has a wealth of local racketball talent. Over the last three years Chichester has produced six National titles including National Champion Tim Vail and, through Head Coach Mike Phillips, a National Over 50 Champion himself, has a complete coaching programme for both squash and racketball. This is bound to make for another great event in 2014.

Grade
It is important to remember that UK-Racketball Series events are designed to be inclusive. Although the A grade does attract the best racketball players in the country the events really are for players of all ages and abilities. We have never had a competitor who felt they were not good enough for an event when they took part.

If you are unsure which category to enter please feel free to contact Mark Fuller directly on 07846067505 or email us at [email protected] and we will be happy to advise you.
If entries to a category are not sufficient grades may be merged, however all participants will always be informed in advance and they will have a choice if they would still like to play, this has never happened in the last three years.

Venue facilities
The Chichester club boasts five courts including a championship glass back and arguably the best facilities out of any club in the Series.
The club has a modern and spacious dining and catering area and food is served throughout the day. The heath suite consisting of a spa pool, sauna and steam room has made the venue one of the most popular on the Series and is perfect for post-match relaxation.
The health suite is available to all competitors throughout the tournament and there is a comfortable lounge area to relax in.
The bar is situated close to but just tucked away from the courts making it the perfect place to chill out away from the racketball. The club patio area is rated as the best sun trap in the city and if we’re lucky enough with the November weather, refreshments can be enjoyed in the sun!
