UK RACKETBALL SERIES tournament terms AND AIMS
Spirit of the UK-Racketball Series – All our events are competitive but they are also fun, look after each other and enjoy being part of this fantastic community.
Withdrawal Deadline:
Any players who withdraw before the specified tournament deadline will receive 100% of the entry fee back.
Withdrawal Deadline Exceptions:
It is really important for the smooth running of the events and everyone's enjoyment that we do not have many late withdrawals. Please email Mike Harris at [email protected] to do so to ensure a quick response to it.
Refereeing/Marking:
In all of our One Day Series Events, WINNERS must referee the next match on the court that they have just finished on. If you are unable to do this due to playing in multiple grades, having a long-standing injury that you need to attend to, or are uncomfortable refereeing, it is your responsibility to organise a fellow tournament participant to referee for you. The smooth running of our events depends upon this rule being adhered to.
There may be exceptions on the Semis and Finals days of the British Open and National Championships, these will be communicated out on a per event basis.
If you are unwilling to do so, then you will unfortunately not be able to participate in our events. If you are new to the Series and worried about this and need some help for your first few events please email: [email protected] and we will look after you and provide you with help on the day.
Player Behavior On and Off Court:
We at UK Racketball will not tolerate any of the below actions during a UK Racketball run event:
- verbal or physical abuse of markers by players and by spectators. We appreciate that sometimes the marker does not always get it right, but all players are expected to abide by the referees decision. You are more than welcome to question why they have made the decision to better avoid the situation next time, but we will not allow aggression or abuse in this context.
- verbal or physical abuse of players by players and spectators. This includes making as much of an attempt as possible to play or move to the ball without ''running through'' or creating heavy contact with your opponent. Similarly both players must make as much of an effort as possible to give their opponent a clear line to the ball as much as possible to encourge free flowing and clean matches.
The UK Racketball Series is founded on the ethos of fun and welcoming match play with a wide age ranging and welcoming community spirit. If players are unable to abide by this ethos and are deemed to be detrimenting the event, their participation in future Series events will be considered.
Late Entries & Filling Draws:
Our aim with our events is to try and get as many players involved as possible. This means that across all age categories and grades our participants regularly get a variety of opponents to compete against, meaning that they get great and different experience each time.
Sometimes with our tournaments we have draws that have an odd number of entrants in, potentially meaning that players may not get as many games as they would like on the day. We therefore are open to the occasional late/last minute entry into events if it means balancing out draws or schedules, meaning everyone gets the best possible competition. This does therefore mean some late notice re-draws or re-schedules. We will of course do our best to ensure start times aren't affected too greatly so that players can plan travel arrangements properly, and also insure that any changes are communicated via email to everyone affected.
Entry List Release Date:
We will now be keeping the entry lists for tournaments closed (not able to be viewed) on Sporty HQ until 24 hours before the tournament withdrawal deadline. We want to do this to build a sense of interest and excitement about who has entered, hopefully therefore increasing entries and expanding the event's profiles.
Eye Protection:
The World Squash Federation, England Squash and UK-Racketball advise players to wear eye protection during all matches. While we will enforce this at events for all U19 year old players (based on current England Squash guidance,) we will leave adults to make their own decision on whether to wear it or not.
Injury:
The World Squash Federation, England Squash and UK-Racketball advise players to bring suitable first aid provision and do their own risk assessment with regards to their personal health circumstances and their participation in competitive sport.
Participating in all competitive sport incurs an element of injury risk. UK-Racketball are not responsible or liable for any injuries that might occur during our events.
Spirit of the UK-Racketball Series:
All our events are competitive but they are also fun, look after each other and enjoy being part of this fantastic community. Our aim is to make our events as enjoyable and accessible as possible for players of all ages and abilities.
