Racketball Doubles is unique. Unlike all other racket sports except for table tennis players have to take alternate shots. In Racketball however unlike table tennis players occupy the same space making this a completely unique game in the sporting world.
Alternate shots makes for a true game of doubles. In games where either member of the pair can strike the ball teams tend to end up with a dominant player as can become the case in squash or a situation where the weaker player is being targeted such as in Tennis or Badminton. In Racketball players will hit the ball an equal number of times over the course of the match.
To win a game of Racketball doubles you need to work as a true partnership. Protecting your partner is one of the most important things to remember when playing Racketball doubles. If you're a good shot player but your partner is not very mobile refrain from hitting shots that will open up the court and expose your partner. If your partner has just hit a ball from the front right corner try to hit a shot that will allow them to comfortably clear the area. Remember whatever shot you decide to play you don't need to worry about picking up the next shot, it will be your partner who has to do that.
