How do I get selected?
*What do I have to do for England Selection?*
This is probably one of the most frequent questions we have asked over the last 12 months! (Apart from “what court am I on?”)
Since the Racketball International Teams kicked off in 2024 in Glasgow with Scotland, England, Wales and Guernsey taking part, interest in England selection across the age categories has sky rocketed! While this year’s selection period is nearly at an end and there’s just a few players still in with a chance of making the grade, the Jersey 2026 event selection starts with the British National Champs in July!
So for those of you wondering how to achieve England selection at Men’s Open, Ladies Open, O40 / O50 / O60 / O70 level, here’s a short & sharp breakdown for you all:
- You need to play at least 4 UK Racketball sanctioned events in the 12 month selection period starting with the July 2025 British Nationals, and ending with the last Series event in July 2026 prior to that year’s Nationals.
- Your best 5 tournament finishing positions go toward your overall Road to Selection points total.
- Realistically you need to finish Semi Final or better in either or both of the British Open & Nationals (both triple points scoring events) and then reach semi final or better in your remaining Series level events to secure your spot. Anything less than this then leaves you at the mercy of others results.
- Highest possible points total to achieve from your best 5 results is 120 - 30 points for winning each the Open & Nationals, then 20 points per event for winning three more Series level events. This can’t be topped!
- Anything around 100 points total (based on this year’s placings) seems about safe enough.
So I hope that helps you plan your challenge for 2026 selection!
